A 44-year-old Inanda man was recently sentenced by the Ntuzuma regional court to two life sentences for the repeated rape of his two biological daughters.
Natasha Kara, spokesperson for the National Prosecuting Authority, said the man raped his eldest daughter from the age of five until the age of 15 and he raped his six-year-old daughter on different occasions.
NEIGHBOR HEARD A GIRL TALKING TO HER FRIEND
“The man raped them at night, in their family home where they lived with his wife and their other children. He did it without his wife’s knowledge. The two children were initially afraid to report the case.
Kara said an adult neighbor overheard a conversation between the 6-year-old and her friend while she was playing in January 2019.
“The girl mentioned what her father was doing. “
The case was reported to a community leader and a case was opened.
“It was at this point that the oldest daughter also revealed her encounters with her father.”

FATHER DENIES ALLEGATIONS OF RAPE IN COURT
Kara said the man has denied the allegations throughout the legal process.
“Regional court prosecutor Jenisha Sewbaran gave evidence of the victims, the neighbor, the policeman and the doctor who examined the children after the incidents were reported. “
Victim Impact Statements compiled by victims and facilitated by court preparation officer, Xolile Mzobe, were submitted to the court when the sentence was increased.
“One victim said her father was selfish and his actions hurt them a lot. The other victim said his father shouldn’t come home because he might repeat his actions. “
